What is the difference between oil and grease?
A lubricant is an oil with a thickener and sometimes also contains a solid lubricant. Depending on the application and circumstances, you choose the right grease. The advice for a lubricating grease is even more specific than for an oil. Oils generally consist of a mineral paraffin base oil, a synthetic ester, PAO or Poly-glycol. Complicated? Yes, quite so.
