Hydraulic Fluid. Shell Turbo S5 DR 46 has been developed, among other things, for use in electro-hydraulic control (EHC) systems of steam and gas turbines. Lubrication of steam and gas turbines. Shell Turbo S5 DR 46 can be used as a lubricant for the main bearings in steam and gas turbines, generators and cooling pumps. As a precautionary measure, compatibility with system components should be verified.

Shell Turbo S5 DR 46 is a fire-resistant hydraulic lubricating oil composed of Tri-Aryl Phosphates based on butylated phenol
 

Performance, Features & Benefits of Shell Turbo S5 DR 46 are:

  • Excellent Fire Resistant Properties. Shell Turbo S5 DR 46 is a high performance, self-extinguishing and fire resistant phosphate esther hydraulic fluid and offers a high flash point, burn point and high auto-ignition temperature to reduce potential fire hazards potentially caused by mineral oil products.
  • Good oxidation stability. Good oxidation stability provides longer service life under normal operating conditions. Good hydrolytic stability. Shell Turbo S5 DR 46 is highly resistant to degradation of the base oil under the influence of moisture and water in the oil system.
  • Good water separating ability. Enables rapid water separation for improved service intervals.
  • Controlled air separation. Good air separation minimizes air entrapment in lubrication and control systems to ensure safe operation of the entire equipment.
  • Low foaming. A minimal tendency to foam ensures proper lubrication and heat transfer.
  • HSSE. Shell Turbo S5 DR 46 is an advanced low-toxicity fire protection hydraulic fluid that is free of trixylenyl phosphate (TXP) and is fully formulated from tert-butylphenyl phosphate. Is specifically designed to meet future EU REACH regulations for use in EHC systems.

  • Shell Turbo S5 DR 46 is approved and exceeds the requirements of leading manufacturers such as General Electric (GEK 46357H), Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems (MS-04-CL004, Revision 6), Siemens AG Power & Gas TLV 901202 and TLV901203, and Solar ES 9-224 Revision AA Class IV VG 46
  • Shell Turbo S5 DR 46 has been well-behaved by FM (Factory Mutual) Global according to the 6930 standard for 'difficult to combust hydraulic fluid'. It also meets the requirements of ISO standard 12922 and ASTM 4293 for HFDR type fire safe hydraulic fluids
