Shell Diala S4 ZX-I is Shell's premium insulating oil. It has been designed to meet the needs of the latest transformer generation. The product offers a longer oil life. It is sulfur free and therefore meets existing and future copper corrosion tests. Shell Diala S4 ZX-I is made from a sulfur-free base oil produced using the Shell GTL (Gas-to-liquids) technology.
We also know that it is used as Immersion Cooling Fluid for cooling servers as used in cloud computing, blockchain and crypto mining.
This base oil is characterized by a uniform molecular structure and a very good response of antioxidants. It is globally available and independent of different crude oil deposits due to its manufacturing process. Shell Diala S4 ZX-I is free of PCB, DBDS and Passivators.
Performance, Features & Benefits of Shell Diala S4 ZX-I
Extended performance
Shell Diala S4 ZX-I is a fully inhibited oil with excellent resistance to oxidation and an extended oil service life. Shell Diala S4 ZX-I is also recommended for demanding, heavily loaded applications.
Transformer protection
Shell Diala S4 ZX-I is formulated from sulfur-free* base oil, making it non-corrosive towards copper, without the need for added passivators or other additives. Shell Diala S4 ZX-I meets all relevant copper corrosion tests, including the established DIN 51353 (Silver Strip Test), ASTM D1275, as well as the latest demanding tests IEC 62535 and ASTM D1275B. *Sulfur content below the 1 ppm detection limit of ASTM D5185.
In addition, we know that Shell Diala S4 ZX-I is also used as an Immersion Cooling Fluid for cooling servers as used in crypto mining, cloud computing and blockchain technology.
System efficiency
The excellent viscometric properties of the oil at low temperatures ensure very efficient heat transfer in transformers, even during cold starts. Shell Diala S4 ZX-I is specially dried and processed to minimize water content and maintain high dielectric strength. This allows it to be used in many applications without further treatment.
