Many OEMs recommend Tellus S2 MX68 hydraulic oil for hydraulic systems that are used with low and high operating pressures, high temperatures and varying loads.
Examples of application of the S2 MX68 are:
A multigrade, anti-wear hydraulic oil based on a blend of excellent quality mineral base oils and a proven additive package to provide excellent performance in hydraulic and other industrial systems. Often people loop for DIN HLP68 however these industry specifications are a bit "behind". This hydraulic oil is designed with hydraulic OEM's. They understand their systems best so recognize the quality of Shell Tellus S2 MX 68.
The anti-wear additive used in Tellus S2 MX 68 is based upon zinc, and this oil should not be used in older hydraulic pumps containing silver plated components.

Shell Tellus S2 MX 68 is the direct successor of Shell Tellus S2 M 68. The basic oil has been greatly improved, and Shell Tellus S2 MX 68 is now a Group II basic oil, whereas it was previously a Group I basic oil. This means that the base oil of Shell Tellus S2 MX 68 is saturated by more than 90%. The advantage is that the service life and thermal load of this oil is higher. It also contains less sulphur, and this gives less chance to adverse ageing components.
Yes, in fact, DIN HLP 68 is a minimum quality hydraulic oil. Although the requirements of DIN HLP 68 are modified over time, it actually says little about the quality differences.
