Klüber Summit SH 46 SX was especially developed for the lubrication of highly loaded rotary screw compressors which require an oil formulated without the use of silicone raw materials. Klüber Summit SH 46 XS is intended for oil-injected rotary screw compressors with oil change intervals of up to 10,000 operating hours. Used compressors can be switched over from conventional mineral oils to Klüber Summit SH 46 XS. Klüber Summit SH 46 XS is neutral towards most elastomers typically used in air compressors - no leakage is to be expected. Klüber Summit SH 46 XS offers very good oxidation stability due to the synthetic base oil, thus minimising oxidation residues in the compressor and extending oil change intervals and the service life of the oil separator. The product contains special inhibitors to largely prevent the formation of residues in the compressors. Owing to the evaporation stability of the base oil, the oil vapour content in the compressed air can be considerably reduced compared to conventional mineral oils. This contributes to a reduction of oil consumption and clean compressed air; gumming of pneumatic valves in the compressed air circuit can be prevented as well due to the low oil content in the compressed air.

Klüber Summit SH 46 XS is a special oil for air compressors based on synthetic hydrocarbon, additives and an antifoam solution free from silicone. The oil is miscible with mineral oils and synthetic hydrocarbons, but not with polyglycol-based products.
Our experience so far has shown that the raw materials of Klüber Summit SH 46 XS are paint-compatible and thus do not interfere with the quality of a paint finish. In view of the many different paint systems and testing criteria, individual paint compatibility tests should be performed by the user prior to series application. When selecting the oil viscosity for air compressors, please observe the manufacturer's instructions. When switching a used compressor to Klüber Summit SH 46 XS, drain the old oil from the whole circuit while still warm. We also recommend changing all oil filters and separators. Then refill the compressor with Klüber Summit SH 46 XS. If the previously used oil was a mineral oil, oxidation residues may be present in the compressor. Typical symptoms are black discolouration or impurities in the previously used oil. As such residues can affect the service life of the fresh Klüber Summit SH 46 XS oil, we recommend cleaning the compressor with Klüber Summit Varnasolv prior to changeover. After changing over to Klüber Summit SH 46 XS, we recommend determining the oil change interval through an oil analysis or the Klüber Summit TAN Kit.
