    Industrial gears and worm gears in closed carters. Shell Omala S1 W can be used with good results in relatively worn gears and worm gears to reduce further wear and lower the oil bath temperature. Typical examples are low-speed gearboxes in frequent start/stop operation. Lubrication of cylinders of steam engines. Suitable for the lubrication of cylinders of steam engines operating at high temperatures and pressures. For heavily loaded gears and worm gears, oils of the type Shell Omala S4 WE are recommended. For gearboxes with straight and helical gears in closed carters, Shell Omala 'G' type oils are recommended. For hypoid transmissions in vehicles, it is best to use suitable oils of the type Shell Spirax.
